I'm not jumping off the good ship livejournal by any means. This new blog will serve as a conduit for my nerdiness and update people on the progress of any projects I have going on. I'll still be here, truckin'.

mewithoutYou - It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All A Dream! It's Alright. http://tinyurl.com/cg8rpt Alright, I fixed the link. Well, this is the worst album name I have come across in a looong time. The one song I have heard off this was highly questionable and left me worried that this band has completely fallen apart. I just want another Catch For Us The Foxes. Brother, Sister was really good, but come on, CFUTF was incredible. Hopefully, this turns out good.
TIME FOR THE OPINIONADER: It's pretty good. A big record. There's a lot more going on than I think I can fully appreciate right now. Few more listens are needed. This is probably the most upbeat mewithoutYou album, which is good. There are time things get cheesy and the lyrics are pretty weak for a MWY album BUT that doesn't really take anything away from the album. Good to see them really play with their sound and what they can and cannot do within those boundaries. I will probably end up liking this more than Brother, Sister. I enjoy. It's weird, I like it.
New Paper Chase is equal parts beautiful and creepy. Truly representing the very essence of it's theme.
Only after one chapter and a basic outline and my comic is already going places I didn't expect. Yes... naked penises are plentiful.

The Paper Chase - Someday This Could All Be Yours! (Part 1) http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?tzia2nd22yt That is the name of this new album. Fun live band. Fun band on record. One of them gems I don't tell people about because they are too good for most people to enjoy. I am more excited about this then I'm putting on.
I'm writting a short story I plan on turning into a comic. We all know it will be about naked men with huge penises.

| Daughters set to record new album |
[07 Apr 2009|07:54pm] |
Daughters will be entering the studio this month to record a new full-length for Hydra Head Records. Tracking will take place with Keith Souza and Seth Manchester at Machines With Magnets in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where the group recorded their "Canada Songs" album. Lambgoat spoke with guitar player Nick Sadler earlier today and he had the following to say about the studio:
"The studio is constantly growing and helping make some monsterous recordings as well as taking some really cool creative routes in terms of the recording process. Basically, the two engineers are really really into what they do and put a lot of time into mastering their craft both technically and creatively. It helps to be in a studio whose engineers understand what your going for, what your band is about, and what you're into...basically having common reference points for what's happening makes things go a little smoother and MWM are pretty tapped into what's going on in the music world at large. They did Battles' 'Mirrored' album."
Artwork for the currently untitled album is being conceptualized. Additionally, though the new material has still been written with two guitars in mind, this will be the first time that Daughters has recorded as a four-piece. The group has yet to replace departed guitarist Jeff Worms, who left the group last summer. "Jeff is amazing and I wish he didn't live on the opposite coast because I feel like he's a perfect fit for our band in a lot of subtle ways," notes Sadler. "He's got really tiny feet that patter around in little tiny shoes."
Called at fucking one Called at fucking two Called at fucking three Or however those lyrics go.

| Watchmen still isn't a good movie. |

Isis - Wavering Radiant http://www.mediafire.com/?yflji2wdkgz This comes out in May so its kinda shit-dicky this leaked now. A little bit too soon for my liking. Fuck Isis. Fuck you Aaron Turner. How much fucking money are you making off Hydra Head? Do you even need to be in a band anymore? Why the fuck won't you assholes play something off the Red Sea EP? Why the fuck do you constantly ignore the fact that ANY of your EPs exist? Why do you only use clean singing now? Why do you only play material of your last 3 albums live? WHY? WHY? WHY? Anyways, I don't know, this will probably be ... ok. Wavering Radiant? What does that even mean? I don't even remember the name of their last album. I do, however, remember liking it to a point, but not loving it. Maybe this will be better? Mastodon sucks, why is every metal band trying to be Mastodon? Why do they have to be so ironic? Your new album has a bear on the cover for no reason? HOLY SHIT! You guys are CrAzY! Anyways, I don't really care for Isis anymore. Still, Oceanic and Panopticon (a word I cannot stand saying) still give my ears boners. Put out another Old Man Gloom album, then we'll be in business.
The new Thermals album, while not being as technical as The Body, The Blood, The Machine; if you can call anything The Thermals have done 'technical', is still quite enjoyable. And I was mistaken. They used to be on Sub-pop, now they are on Kill Rock Stars.

The Thermals - Now We Can See. http://www.mediafire.com/?wwvz2dzmx3o I'm actually upset this leaked so soon. I don't like the word leak anymore. Indie power-pop, kinda punk-ish, very catchy. Used to be the lowest of the lo-fi you would ever hear. On Sub Pop (I think). Find videos on youtube or something.

| Cursive has a new album and album. |
[28 Feb 2009|11:12pm] |
Cursive - Mama, I came up with a pretty stupid album title http://www.mediafire.com/?t1zkjnjdiyd Fuck you, hardcore kids!
EDIT: Oh my, I just don't know. This isn't good. This is a mess. A MESS, I SAY! There are about 3 good songs on here (Happy Hollow had 5). However, the 'good' songs pale in comparison to anything song, even the bad ones, on Domestica or The Ugly Organ. Hell, even the good songs on Happy Hollow are better than the good songs on this pile. You know what, I have a feeling that hardcore kids will probably love this. They will listen to it and think it makes them 'deep'. They will think they are 'artistic', that they 'get' music, that they are learned. Listen, you don't understand nuance. No matter how many pitchfork approved bands you listen to you still like bands that play breakdowns, have gang vocals and names that include the words 'black', 'heart', 'blood', 'dark', 'death' or any applicable variation, or the word 'the', or any pronoun.
Lastly, the final song on this album, "What Have I Done?" is beautiful. It is near perfect and the only song I genuinely enjoyed the entire way through. Now, this makes me angry more than anything. Why? Because why didn't this band start with this song and write other songs like it. Why end an awful mess with beauty? That is like taking Disaster Movie and giving it the ending to Citizen Kane. Why even write the awful mess that precedes it? At any point did they actually listen to how unbalanced this album is? They never stopped to think that they have this wonderful song on their hands and an album that is lackluster to say the least. Why not go back and re-write things to sound just as good as the last song? I guess I'll never know.
Well there goes another one. Appleseed Cast's latest was so-so, this is not good, and the new Fear Before? Nu-metal is the only word I will use in reference to that.
Good night, Every Time I Die fans.

| 2009 = Best year for music, ever! |
[23 Feb 2009|09:31pm] |
It has been reported that Congleton is working on the recording of a two album project for The Paper Chase centered around natural disasters. The working title for it is "Someday This Could All Be Yours." Part One is planned for an April 2009 release while Part two should follow within the year.
This makes my dick so fucking hard.
Also, Swans, best band from New York, ever? Probably.

| Cursive has a new song and Album. |
[23 Feb 2009|08:26pm] |
The song is called "I Couldn't Love You" the album is called "Mama, I'm Swollen." If you are from Omaha, you don't need to come up with good titles, make sense. But onto the song: I like it. It's better than most of the song found on Happy Hollow (what an awful record). Doesn't really pack a punch but has a nice, warm back-to-basics thing going on. For a band that at one point had not only a soloist but a size-able piece orchestra accompanying them, its good that they are, kinda, getting back to their roots. http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/02/cursive-exclusi.html

[17 Feb 2009|09:55pm] |
Doomriders is currently at Godcity studios in Massachusetts with engineer Kurt Ballou recording their next Deathwish Inc. release. The group has recorded twelve new songs in addition to several covers and according to the band, "everything is sounding amazing." Slated for release later this year, this will be the first proper Doomriders album to feature former Cave In drummer JR Conners.
Thats cool, right?

Irepress - Sol Eye Sea I http://www.mediafire.com/file/mlwzii3j2nn/Irepress%20-%20Sol%20Eye%20Sea%20I.zip Inglorious Basterds looks like a good movie, right? Now, in the hands of, oh I don't know, Spielberg or Malick, a movie like this could be bloated with overwrought themes and metaphors. Now in Tarantino's hands it looks to be somewhere in the middle, being a serious movie without taking itself too seriously. This band is kinda like that. If you want post-rock without all that gross This Will Destroy You pretension, then give this a listen. Also, this comes out Tuesday with the new Appleseed and Trail of Dead. Good day for all!
I watched Black Christmas last night. While being frustrated at times (Who was the killer, seriously? Seriously, why didn't anyone think to check the attic?) I really enjoyed this movie. Seeing as this came out in '74 I suppose this really did start the whole never-find-out-who-the-killer-is-til-the-end slasher film. Sorry Argento, Deep Red was one year too late.
Tenebre > Suspiria. Yeah I said it.
The new Friday the 13th remake has replaced Rob Zombie's Halloween as the worst horror remake to date. I didn't think this could happen, but somehow an already trashy film series was driven further into the ground and then raped and shit on.
